This Special Meeting of the members of the Bel-Air Association will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016, commencing at 5:30 p.m., at the Bel-Air Country Club. This Special Meeting of the Members of the Bel-Air Association (the “Association”) is being called pursuant to Article II, Section 2 of the Association’s By-Laws (dated June 10, 2003), which provide that “Special meetings of the members may be called at any time by… any three (3) or more members.”

As you know, there will be a community meeting on Thursday, February 18th at 5:30pm at the Bel Air Country Club. Your attendance and participation are critical to our community!   It's a chance for us to review what is happening and also get your input on our strategy going forward to protect our community.

Are any of you aware of any over-regulation reducing the value and enjoyment of our homes as stated therein. The fact is that the BAA has not been on the side of the residents for years--and there it is in their own words. The response from one of our supporters (see Margie Perenchio's email to the BAA-below their blog) says it well and succinctly.

In the Bel-Air Association’s Jan 13, 2016 blog, it falsely stated that “We are postponing the election for at least 60 days in order to allow all members additional time to have the opportunity to be nominated as Directors…” This assertion lies about 85% of the way between misleading and dishonest. Of course the real, and only, reason that the BAA postponed the election was because Marcia Hobbs brought a court case to compel the BAA to have an election under fair conditions. When the BAA scheduled the January 14 election over the holidays for the express purpose of having as little participation and opposition as possible, Ms. Hobbs went to court on January 12 to postpone the election so that it really would be open to the community. THE BAA FILED PAPERS OPPOSING THIS, BUT THE COURT RULED AGAINST THEM, and this is the only reason there will be a chance at actual democracy – contrary to the wishes of the BAA, which spent the BAA members’ dues sending two lawyers to Court to try to keep the January 14 election date.

Another day, another round of unsafe, illegal, construction wackiness in Bel-Air. The latest comes this morning, when large dumpsters lined Stone Canyon Rd.  As seen in the photo provided in the article, two large trash dumpsters, nearly sticking out halfway into the street, were parked on the side of the narrow road traveled by many residents throughout the day. The dumpsters symbolize a growing concern among residents in some areas of Beverly Hills, and surrounding areas such as Bel-Air, about the lack of oversight for contractors doing work.

BAA--- This has come to our attention again---and Al has represented to me that Paulette, Cynthia and Ron are attempting to make life difficult for ACS including harassing one of their employees. If this behavior does not stop immediately and efforts continue to make ACS uncomfortable while they honor their lease, than the Alliance and its supporters reserve all their rights and remedies against the BAA--including potential litigation against Ron, Cynthia and Paulette individually. Game playing is over. The community wants the security company at the Gate---not a real estate broker so you can collect more rent.

This is my message to the BAA Board--Paulette works for you not the other way around--one of the reasons why there has been significant turnover on the Board over the last 8 years. In our collective opinion, she and Ron are menaces to the community--and their behavior needs to be radically altered--or in the alternative, they both need to be replaced. I strongly suggest that you heed the content of this email. Furthermore, it is my intention to make these emails available to the whole community.

SCENARIO: Three vehicle Traffic Accident involving a Fully Loaded Cement Truck.  The Cement Truck, driving E/B on Sunset Blvd. hit a passenger vehicle and rolled onto its right side into the intersection at Veteran Ave. The cement truck slid into another passenger vehicle on Veteran Ave. turning right onto Sunset Blvd.

OPERATIONS: The first arriving companies assessed the area and determined the number of vehicles involved, number of injured patients, and requested appropriate resources. 

Total Patients:  Four
Two patients transported to UCLA Hospital
One patient transported to St. Johns Hospital
One patient AMA.

RECOVERY: The incident was causing a severe traffic problem and was backing up Sunset Blvd.  LAFD resources remained on scene to oversee the upright operation of the Cement Truck.  LAFD Heavy Rescue 56 worked with LAPD's Heavy Equipment Operators (Heavy Wreckers) and DOT. LAPD provided two heavy wreckers.  It was a collaborated effort between LAPD and LAFD to upright the cement truck. The cement truck was carrying a full load of cement (10 yards) approximately 20,000 pounds. (See pictures) The three wreckers were able to upright the cement truck. Once up-righted, the incident was turned over to LAPD Traffic division.
